A French socialist is throwing a tantrum, demanding that America hand back the Statue of Liberty because he doesn’t like President Trump’s America First policies. That’s right—Raphaël Glucksmann, a left-wing European elitist, has decided that the United States no longer deserves its most iconic symbol of freedom because we’re not dumping billions into endless foreign wars and woke university programs.
At a recent Place Publique convention, Glucksmann declared, “Give us back the Statue of Liberty,” claiming that Trump’s leadership means America has turned its back on liberty. The crowd cheered, because of course, Europe’s leftist class can’t stand a world where America stands tall, independent, and free from their approval.
This is the same Glucksmann who has been one of the biggest cheerleaders for the war in Ukraine, constantly demanding more American taxpayer money for a war that Europe itself refuses to fully fund. He’s also furious that Trump has cut funding to bloated universities and research institutions that have been infested with leftist ideology and anti-American sentiment.
Here’s the truth: America does not take orders from the French, and we certainly don’t need their permission to define what liberty means to us. The Statue of Liberty isn’t going anywhere. If Glucksmann and his buddies want a statue so badly, they can build one out of their failed socialist policies and EU bureaucracy.
And let’s not forget the irony here. France, the same country that cracks down on free speech with its draconian laws, the same country whose government controls almost every aspect of life, is lecturing America about freedom? Give me a break.
Trump’s America First policies are about real liberty—the kind where we put our citizens first, our economy first, and our sovereignty first. If that makes globalist bureaucrats uncomfortable, then we must be doing something right.
So sorry, France—the Statue of Liberty stays right where she belongs, towering over New York Harbor as a reminder that America will never bow to foreign elites.
