Mary Trump, niece of GOP candidate Donald Trump, and the nation’s biggest snowflake, recently criticized Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos for reportedly halting the paper’s presidential endorsement process, including one for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Mary, estranged from her uncle, called Bezos’s decision a failure of journalistic duty. She condemned it as a move to “protect his Amazon fortune” in anticipation of a potential Trump presidency, suggesting Bezos is acting preemptively to avoid backlash.
“Jeff Bezos has succumbed to … anticipatory obedience … to protect his Amazon fortune from a Trump administration that will be steeped in vengeance against Donald’s enemies, real and perceived,” she said in a recent blog post.
In her blog, Mary Trump highlighted the Post’s past endorsements, where it had denounced Donald Trump and praised his opponents. She argued that omitting an endorsement for Harris creates a “gaping void” in the media landscape, allowing misconceptions to flourish. Mary expressed her view that the shift away from endorsements reflects Bezos’s reluctance to confront what she deems as fascist threats, blaming corporate influence for media’s failure to stand against such dangers.
“Much more importantly, though, this is a rather monstrous abdication of responsibility in the face of the very real fascist threat that looms over us all — especially those of us who aren’t billionaires. It is yet another stark and troubling instance of the failures of our corporate media to do its job,” she said.
You might be wondering if anyone is actually buying the horse crap narrative Mary Trump is spinning about our fearless leader, Donald Trump, and apparently they do. Mary has nearly 2 million followers on X alone, where she uses her platform to spew venom at the former President, and to blare lies out into the void of the internet at anyone who will listen. But even Mary should know that when a billionaire like Bezos pulls the plug on an endorsement, it’s time to pay attention. This ‘come to Jesus’ moment is long overdue for Bezos, and a small step in the right direction towards a less partisan press. Bezos’ departure from the usual media bias allows voters to evaluate candidates independently and make more informed decisions. This has been a long time coming.
