In a shocking display of government bias, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell faced congressional questioning over allegations that Trump supporters’ homes were deliberately bypassed during disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Milton. FEMA official Marn’i Washington reportedly directed workers to skip homes displaying Trump signs, a revelation exposed by whistleblowers and text messages obtained by The Daily Wire.

The messages reveal that FEMA workers were instructed to label these homes as “no contact” in their reports, citing directives such as “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.” According to whistleblowers, this so-called “best practice” impacted at least 20 homes of Americans desperately in need of relief. Washington has since been terminated, but the damage done to FEMA’s credibility is immense.
Whistleblowers say that relief workers were told it was "best practice" to pass over houses "advertising Trump."

Criswell, testifying before two House committees, admitted under grilling from Rep. Paulina Luna that the skipped homes were indeed Trump supporters’ residences. She attempted to downplay the incident, calling it the work of a “rogue employee” and not reflective of systemic bias within the agency.
“Rogue employee? Nice try,” Luna shot back. “We have text messages proving this was a coordinated effort to discriminate against Americans in need simply because of their political beliefs. This isn’t a rogue employee—it’s a culture of partisan weaponization.”

Criswell’s explanations didn’t sit well with Republican lawmakers, who see the incident as emblematic of a larger problem within federal agencies. The fact that FEMA staff were instructed to ignore Americans during a natural disaster because of a political sign in their yard should send chills down everyone’s spine—especially when these agencies are supposed to remain nonpartisan.
President-elect Donald Trump responded to the scandal in true Trump fashion, calling it “disgraceful” and promising reforms to FEMA under his administration. “This is what happens when you let Democrats run things—they can’t even hand out hurricane aid without playing politics,” Trump said on Truth Social. “When I take office, FEMA will help all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. No exceptions.”
This incident is yet another glaring example of why the American people are fed up with bureaucratic overreach. FEMA’s actions show that Democrats will even politicize natural disasters if it suits their agenda.
